Tree in Chinese letter is 木.

In Yang’s semiotic interpretation, 木(tree) can be divided into '十(cross) and 人(human)'.

Chinese scholars have described the letter, 木(tree) is a pictogram of tree.

About this, the author Yang have argued that if 木(tree) is a pictogram of tree, two oblique lines may mean branches of the tree. The branches of tree usually face the Sun for photosynthesis.

Based on this fact, it is more likely that the Chinese letter, tree 木 is not pictogram of tree.

Instead, 木 (tree) can be interpreted as a human(人) on the cross(十).

The most important function of the tree is to produce oxygen in the air. Oxygen is a key component to maintain the life of humans and animals.

Jesus during his life was carpenter (a worker who builds or repairs wooden structures or their structural parts). Namely Jesus’ occupation was to handle the tree(木).

In Korea Words, life is 목숨(pronunciation; MokSSum). The pronunciation of 목(Mok) is the same to that of 木 (tree). 목(Mok) in pronunciation have a few definitions, such as tree and human’s neck. The neck of human is the passage of air toward the lung. 숨(SSum) means respiration.

Hence, 목숨 means life as itself.

The material of Cross Jesus was crucified was wood, namely tree(木).

Jesus has said our savior and the life.

In summary, the author Yang interpreted the Chinese letter, 木 (tree) as ‘Jesus crucified on the Cross made in tree(木), in semiotic view.
