The Hanja for the number 7 (seven) is 七.
In Korean, 七 is pronounced “Chil” (칠).
The number 7 in the Bible primarily symbolizes
completeness, perfection, fullness, divine order, and spiritual wholeness. In
traditional Chinese character analysis, 七 (qī, “seven”) is a
phonetic loan character (假借字). Its original meaning was unrelated to the numeral and instead
depicted “to cut” or “to sever,” a sense later transferred to the character 切 (qiè, “to cut”).
How 七 Became the Numeral “Seven”
七 originally functioned as a
symbol for cutting or dividing. It was later borrowed for the sound of the word
for the number seven (a common process in early Chinese script), and the
“cut/sever” meaning was reassigned to the new character 切.
If, in ancient Chinese Hanja interpretation, the
original meaning of 七 was indeed “cut” or “sever,” then the natural question arises:
What was the object being cut?
In my previously published articles, I proposed that the snake (a symbol of Satan) is represented by the component 乚 (pronounced “은, hide” in Korean) in two Hanja numerals: 四 (4) and 九 (9).
Applying this same framework to 七, the character can be
understood as “to cut or sever the neck of the snake.”
In Korean pronunciation, the act of “cutting the neck” is expressed as “목을 치다” (mok-eul chi-da). The verb “치다” (to strike/cut) has the adjective form “칠” (chil), which matches the Korean pronunciation of 七.
Since 七 carries the inherent meaning of “cut” or “sever,” and contains the
component 乚 (snake/Satan),
I interpret it in light of my earlier articles on 四 and 九
as follows:
[1] 四 (4) is composed of 口 (the Garden of Eden, resembling a mouth/enclosure), 丨 (the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, or the Tree of Life in my opinion), and 乚 (the snake, Satan). With snake’s 4(四) statements, snake approached Eve and Adam.
[2] 九 (9) is composed of 十 (Yeshua’s Wooden Cross) and 乚 (the snake, Satan). Yeshua’s physical death occurred at the 9th hour in Hebrew time (3:00 PM).
Just before this, as His seventh (7th) statement on the Cross, Yeshua said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit” (Luke 23:46).
[3] 七 (7) is composed of / (the Holy Spirit) and 乚 (the snake, Satan).
In my interpretation of Hanja 六 (6), I explained that the separation of Yeshua (represented by ⼈; / the Holy Spirit and Mary, the woman, 〵) from the wooden cross (木) took place at the 6th hour in Hebrew time. Here, the separated Holy Spirit (/) from Yeshua’s physical body cuts the neck of the snake (Satan).
Through Yeshua’s physical death, the Holy Spirit severs the neck of the serpent who had distorted and brainwashed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden with a twisted version of the Tree of Life’s essence (Unconditional Love).
In this way, the number 7 (七) conveys a profound spiritual
message:
In Eden Garden, both separation of the Holy Spirit from Yeshua's physical body on the Hebrew 6th hour (六) and The Holy Spirit’s decisive act (7, 七; to cut, sever the neck of snake, Satan) recover the Tree of Life's essence, namely "Unconditional Love", leading to complete God’s work of perfection, fullness, divine order, and spiritual wholeness — precisely the biblical meaning of the number 7.

King James Version (KJV):
“Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;
And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.”
